Wednesday brought some excitement as at first we just continued on tasks. But by mid-morning, we were down on the field for our Home Run Club Picnic. This event allows us to invite young people who are in the foster care system, caretakers, parents, and staff out to a Major League park for some fun and games and a lunch on us. Everyone had a lot of fun with inflatables, yard games, a face painter, whiffle ball, clowning around with Raymond, and more. Some youngsters don't have the ability to come out to our games or FanFest so this was their first opportunity to be on the turf and meet Raymond. It was really cool and I'm sure we brought lots of smiles to the kids faces.
Home Run Club Picnic was a big hit
After that, we almost immediately went back down on the field this time to measure the dugout roof lips, where an ad for New Era currently is placed for future reference. It was a two person job and I'm glad Kim joined me because it was challenging.
After that, I went a-wanderin' again with Jake. This time, he needed to know if the Kane's Furniture sign was lighting up correctly. Kane's sponsors out nightly Ten K promotion and there are ten neon K's up in center field that all have to light up accordingly. Soon thereafter, we wandered to tbt* Party Deck, Hooters Owl’s Den, Left Field Suites, 300-level areas, and more. I went to places I had never been before. This park fascinates me sometimes.
