Tuesday and Wednesday marked our first weekday night games of the season which are a completely different animal than the rest of the games. See, weekday night games (against non-rival opponents) are not well-attended. Our fans complain that they cannot get to and from the Trop in enough time to get home to get the kids to bed or that it is too late for the elderly or gainfully employed to be out.
I say bah.
We brought in 13,906 fans, which is 40.8% full for the Trop. It always sounds pretty alive in there due in large part to the cowbells and the dome acoustics. But the fans who come are always seen having a great time. Kids smiling, young guys drinking and carrying on, the old folks ringing their bells and talking about their favorite players. It's a big party. More people need to appreciate that in the state we are in, we are less running a ball team and more running the area's biggest club with the highest cover charge and the most entertainment. Then they might come out for more odd games just to have a good time.
